THADOU DRESS
The dress of Thadou people is mostly black. But they wear different varieties of clothes.
Thadou male puts on the shawl called Saipikhup and Another whawl is Thangnam Pon. They were the pheijom (Short dhoto) to cover the west downward. They use Lukop as head dress. They wear a shirt in the form of jacket made of thangnam pon.
Thadou Female shawl is called Pon bamsaung. It is white coloured. They wear a body cloth known as Khamtang of black colour, they now wear blouse.
With the coming of British rule and the Christain missionary activities, the western dress came to be in vogue. But the woman-folk either Hindu or Christain,Tribal or non-tribal still continue to wear the traditional dress to preserve the culturel identity of the people.
Howevew,the use of western dress has become almost universal. Yet the traditional dress continue.
