The Rongmei/Kabui are among the earliest inhabitants of Manipur. The rich Variety of their clothing reflects their rich cultural heritage. The Rongmei dance with their colourful costumes is very well known form of tribal performing art. The Rongmei dress is catagorized on the basis of gender (Male and Female) and the age gradation: child,youth,married and elder,girl child,unmarried girl,married woman and elder woman.


MALE DRESS OF RONGMEI / MALE DRESS OF KABUI.
 Walking child - Sineiphei
 Cattle herding boys - Themphei
 Youth - Mareipan
 Senior married youth - Pheingao
 Elder - Masin pheipong
 Old men - Kharam phei
Mariepan and Pheingao are the most popular amle cloth.



FEMALE DRESS OF RONGMEI / KABUI FEMALE DRESS
 Walking girld child - Lengli pheishoi
 Asolescent - Pheisoi and Nai(undergarment)
 Married woman - Pheisoi, Nai of different patterns
 Elder woman - Pheisoi with the pattern of the Bunting chapi
etc.


The dance costume is colourfull, both for male and female. the female dress is called Langhu Pheisoi.
